Probably Stolen Update: Patch Notes and Sales Milestones
Probably Stolen's 1.0.0.1 to 1.0.0.6 patches, sales milestones and what changed: water balance, UI fixes, modding security and performance.
Probably Stolen launched on October 28, 2026, and shipped four public hotfixes in its first four days. The patches are not a content roadmap. They are a record of what broke under a much larger launch than the developers expected: water economics, ultrawide displays, mod security, save-loaded crates, and a long list of small interface problems.
This page collects the confirmed changes from the official Steam announcements, plus the sales milestones the studio has published. For the modding system itself, see the mods guide→. For the water changes in context, see the water guide→.

The official announcement list goes from 1.0.0.2 to 1.0.0.5. No public patch note for 1.0.0.3 or 1.0.0.4 exists in the feed used for this page, so this guide does not invent one.
Patch summary
| Version | Date | Main focus |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0.0.1 | October 28, 2026 | First hotfix: contraband, UI, tutorial and audio fixes |
| 1.0.0.2 | October 28, 2026 | Water balance and economy adjustments |
| 1.0.0.5 | October 30, 2026 | Bell hotkey, display support, VSync and a large bug-fix pass |
| 1.0.0.6 | October 31, 2026 | Modding security update |
1.0.0.1: the first-day hotfix
The first patch is mostly about restoring trust in systems that behaved inconsistently. Reporting Lou to Security no longer lowers your Black Market reputation. Items inside a Smuggler Bay are no longer confiscated during inspections when the bay was in the trash can, or when a Mini Smuggler Bay had been kept behind the poster.
The rest of the patch is interface cleanup:
- Russian difficulty text no longer shows raw formatting code.
- The Merchant now states the discount he actually takes on your difficulty instead of always claiming 15%.
- Tooltips on ultrawide and other non-16:9 fullscreen displays no longer appear behind the window.
- The Immunivax font issue is fixed.
- The Hypertech Storage Bay can no longer be placed inside smuggler bays.
- Tutorial hints such as “Transfer ALL” no longer stay on screen after sleeping.
- The “Go to sleep” hint no longer appears while you are at an afterhour location.
- Resized documents no longer snap back when another document opens.
- The pause menu no longer opens empty after travelling.
- Main menu music now respects the music volume setting.
- The Mods panel closes with Escape.
None of these changes alter the core loop, but several of them remove daily friction. The Merchant discount fix matters most for players who were pricing around a discount that was never real.

1.0.0.2: water balance
The second patch is small and economic. The Water Purifier logic was reworked to be more intuitive. The Moisture Farm price dropped from 650 to 350 credits, and the Water Filter price dropped from 50 to 25.
Dr. Jackson's markup on his stock was lowered from 25% to 15% on Normal difficulty. Lou can no longer be shot during his visit. The patch also fixed the 3D printer description and added payment options for the blackmailer.
The price cuts are significant for early water runs. A Moisture Farm at 350 is no longer a midgame purchase; it is a plausible first-week investment if you already have the water demand. The Water Filter at 25 also makes pitcher filtering cheaper to experiment with.
1.0.0.5: the quality-of-life patch
This is the largest public patch. It adds a rebindable hotkey for the counter bell, “Call next customer (Bell),” bound to B by default. Holding it dismisses the current customer, the same as holding the bell.
Display and performance changes:
- Auto-rotate while sorting is off by default for new players.
- The frame rate cap is on by default and follows the monitor's refresh rate, with a minimum of 60 FPS, instead of a fixed 60.
- Non-16:9 monitors now show their native resolution in the resolution dropdown while fullscreen is selected.
- Borderless fullscreen is supported on non-16:9 monitors.
- Stuttering and screen tearing on high-refresh displays were addressed by replacing the software frame limiter with VSync. VSync is switched on once for everyone and can be turned off in Options.
Economy and inventory changes:
- Water Purifier price reduced from 300 to 250.
- The Smuggler Bay Mod delivered by the Underground Exchange is no longer thrown out with the trash if left in the trash can overnight.
- A bandage can be dragged onto a Glass Shard to make a Glass Shiv, and the bandage is not consumed.
- Scanners now truncate liquid volumes to the hundredth, so a reading never claims more than the container holds.
- The Scavenger's Token can be kept in the Dossier.
- The Merchant keeps visiting every Sunday after you buy the store.
- Dragging a single item onto a storage bay tab now moves it into that tab.
Bug fixes include the cassette player playing over the game-over music, using a selected tool also activating the target item, Alt-Tabbing out of fullscreen producing a small misaligned window, the evaporator leaving trace water in a mixed alcohol batch, lights turning back on after a power cut, and a Current Converter sealed inside a locked crate still triggering the nightly service.
The most important fix for save-scummers is this: opened loot crates no longer restock with new random items every time a save is loaded after Luck increases. Crate contents are final once revealed. That closes a reload exploit and makes Luck a stat you commit to rather than reroll.

1.0.0.6: modding security
The October 31 patch is a security update for the modding system. It also adds a “Menu / Back” key binding in Options, a second key that does everything Escape does.
The important warning is official: the update changes the modding system to improve security, and some mods may break until their authors update them. If your save depends on a specific mod, check the mod's Workshop page before updating. The mod compatibility guide→ explains how to test a broken load order without losing a run.

Sales milestones
The launch numbers are part of the update story because they explain the patch pace.
| Milestone | Number | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Shopkeepers announced at launch | 200,000 | October 28 |
| Copies sold in the first 24 hours | 350,000+ | October 29 |
| Units sold | 500,000 | October 30 |
| Steam reviews | Nearly 3,000, 96% positive | October 30 |
| Peak concurrent players | 174,382 | November 4 |
The studio also reported 320,000+ unique players and a peak of 112,000 concurrent players in the first 24 hours, plus a spot in Steam's global top 12 most-played games. The later 174,382 peak comes from SteamDB tracking, not from the developer's launch post.
These numbers matter for players because a small team patching a launch this large will prioritize crashes, save integrity, and economy breaks before new content. The patch list reflects that order.
What is next?
The official release material says the studio will continue free content updates after launch. It does not publish a dated roadmap, a season pass, or a paid expansion plan. Treat any specific “next update date” as unconfirmed until it appears on the Steam news feed.
For now, the practical advice is simple: update, check your mods, recheck your water prices after the 1.0.0.2 and 1.0.0.5 changes, and do not build a strategy around a crate reload exploit that no longer exists.
