Probably Stolen Giorgio Spaceship: Loan and Rewards

Fund Giorgio's spaceship in Probably Stolen: the 25% or 50% loan, the fourfold repayment, the Scavenger's Token and the visits you can miss.

Last Updated: 2026-11-06

Giorgio — spelled Georgio in the game files and on most wiki pages — is the scavenger who asks you to finance a spaceship. The offer arrives around Days 25–35. You can lend him 25% or 50% of your current credits, and he repays four times the loan after roughly 8–10 days. The catch is that the money is gone until he returns, and the repayment date can slide into the late 40s.

This guide covers the loan, the Scavenger's Token, the IOU and the encounters that can remove him from your run. The visit schedule is community-tested rather than officially documented, so treat the day numbers as a planning window.

The short version

Fund the spaceship if you can survive 8–10 days without the credits. The 50% loan pays more, but the 25% loan keeps your rent and restock budget intact. Never report Giorgio before the repayment if you want the full storyline.

Who Giorgio is and why the name is confusing

Giorgio is a Lower Levels scavenger who describes himself as the greatest scavenger around. He talks in the third person, sells questionable merchandise, and is a clear nod to Jorji from Papers, Please. Search results use Giorgio, Georgio and Georgie interchangeably; the NPC is the same.

His first regular visit is on Day 6. The early encounters are small trades: scrap metal, water, a backpack, cigarettes. The spaceship request comes much later, after several visits have established him as a recurring character. If you have not seen him by the middle of the first month, keep playing; the trigger is progression-based rather than a single scripted day.

The customers and requests guide→ explains how recurring visitors fit into the daily schedule. Giorgio is one of the few customers with a multi-week arc rather than a one-off order.

The spaceship offer, step by step

  1. Reach the mid-game. The request appears around Days 25–35. The exact day varies by playthrough.
  2. Check your cash and your calendar. Rent, restock and any loan payment take priority. The game does not pause the shop while Giorgio is away.
  3. Choose 25% or 50%. The amount is calculated from your current balance, not a fixed sum.
  4. Take the IOU and the Scavenger's Token. The IOU records the loan; the token is a separate reward.
  5. Wait 8–10 days. Reported returns fall between Days 33 and 50. One documented run had him return on Day 49.
  6. Collect four times the loan. The repayment includes the principal, so the profit is three times the amount lent.

The two offers use the same multiplier. The only difference is how much capital you commit. A 50% loan is not a better rate; it is a bigger position.

Loan repayment table

Amount lent Total repaid Net profit
100 400 300
250 1,000 750
500 2,000 1,500
1,000 4,000 3,000
5,000 20,000 15,000

These are arithmetic examples, not fixed in-game offers. Your actual loan depends on your balance at the moment you accept.

What the Scavenger's Token does

The token is the part players underestimate. Place it in a Display Case and it gives a 20% daily chance to attract a Scavenger customer. That is a recurring traffic bonus, not a one-time sale. The chance is independent of your Black Market reputation, so you do not need to grind a faction to use it.

Alternatively, you can turn the token in for reputation with the Black Market or Smuggler faction. Displaying it is usually better if you still need materials; exchanging it is better if you are pushing a faction threshold for a specific unlock.

The IOU is not the token. The IOU tracks the loan and disappears when Giorgio repays it. Do not sell or discard it while the loan is outstanding.

Is the loan worth it?

The fourfold repayment is one of the strongest returns in the game, but the opportunity cost is real. If lending 50% leaves you unable to pay rent or restock a high-margin product, the profit may arrive too late.

A practical rule:

  • Lend 50% if you have at least two weeks of operating costs left after the loan.
  • Lend 25% if your shop is growing and you need inventory capital.
  • Refuse if you are behind on rent or saving for a shop upgrade that pays back faster.

The repayment arrives after roughly 8–10 days, but the observed window is wide. Plan for the late end, not the early end. If Giorgio returns on Day 49 in your run, the money has been locked up for nearly two weeks.

The visits you should not miss

Giorgio's arc includes several useful stops before the spaceship:

Day Offer Why it matters
6 Scrap metal, 15% bulk discount Cheap crafting input if you need metal
9 Large water bottles, 75% off Strong restock for a water business
12 Kid's Backpack (Large), 40% off More carrying capacity for scavenging
15 Three nights of scavenging help, 50 credits Five extra attempts per night and no injuries
18 Two counterfeit Hemingway packs, 25% off Only useful if you can inspect and resell them
22 Stolen toiletries, 25% off A reporting branch; skip it if you want the spaceship
27 One free Liquid Luck +75 Luck for three days
32 Three Liquid Luck bottles, 20% off Stock up before luck-dependent activities
37 Stolen Evidence Locker Another reporting branch; refusing keeps Giorgio active

The Day 15 scavenging offer does not appear if you chose the Maimed starting perk. That is a starting-scenario restriction, not a bug. The starting scenarios guide→ covers the perk trade-offs.

Liquid Luck and the luck window

Liquid Luck raises Luck by 75 points for three days. It affects random systems such as security inspections, scavenging injuries, lottery results, scratcher tickets and supply crate contents. It does not guarantee a good outcome; it shifts the odds.

Use it before a block of luck-dependent actions rather than on a single crate. A three-day window can cover several scavenging runs, a batch of crates and a lottery ticket. The money guide→ explains which of those activities is worth the time.

Reporting Giorgio: what you lose

You can report Giorgio on Day 22 or Day 37. The immediate reward is 100 credits, with −6 Lower Levels reputation and +5 Security reputation. Reporting ends his remaining storyline, which can cost you Liquid Luck, the spaceship proposal and the fourfold repayment.

The trade is only worth it if you are deliberately pursuing Security reputation or playing a run where Giorgio's goods are not useful. For a money-focused shop, keep him active.

The two hidden encounters

Giorgio also appears in two conditional events:

  • Radioactive waste return. If you dump radioactive waste at the Dumping Ground from Day 3 onward, Giorgio may return the barrel the next day. The event happens once per playthrough. Dump one barrel first, let him return it, then dispose of the rest.
  • Serpico's letter. On Day 48, if you protected Serpico instead of reporting him, Giorgio may deliver a letter that advances Serpico's quest. Reporting Serpico closes this route.

Neither event is required for the spaceship loan, but both are easy to miss if you rush the main progression.

FAQ

How much does Giorgio repay? Four times the amount you lend, including the principal. A 1,000-credit loan returns 4,000 credits.

When does Giorgio return? Roughly 8–10 days after he leaves. Reported returns fall between Days 33 and 50; one run had him return on Day 49.

Should I lend 25% or 50%? Lend 50% only if you can cover rent and restocking without the money. Otherwise take 25%.

What does the Scavenger's Token do? In a Display Case it gives a 20% daily chance to attract a Scavenger customer. It can also be exchanged for Black Market or Smuggler reputation.

Can I report Giorgio and still get the spaceship? No. Reporting him ends his remaining encounters, including the spaceship proposal if it has not happened yet.

Is the name Giorgio or Georgio? Both appear in community guides. The in-game spelling is Georgio; search traffic mostly uses Giorgio.

Does the loan have a fixed amount? No. The 25% and 50% options are calculated from your current credit balance.
